보이는 것과 보이지 않는 것, 존재하는 것과 존재하지 않는 것 사이의 경계에서 이 작업은 출발한다. 인간의 눈은 세상을 인식하는 중요한 도구이지만, 우리가 볼 수 있는 것은 한정적이다. 우리는 빛이 닿은 곳만을 볼 수 있으며, 더 깊은 층위의 존재들은 도구 없이는 관찰할 수 없다. 하지만 우리가 보지 못한다고 해서 그것이 존재하지 않는 것은 아니다.

Heuristic 작업은 이러한 가시성과 비가시성의 경계를 탐구하는 과정이다. 우리는 과연 눈으로 볼 수 없는 것들을 어떻게 이해할 수 있을까? 우리는 보이지 않는 영원한 곳에서 시작되었다고 믿고 있다. 그렇다면 우리의 출발점, 우리의 근원과 과정, 그리고 우리가 거쳐 온 공간은 어디일까?

이 작업은 직관적인 방식으로 보이지 않는 것들을 감각적으로 경험하고, 우리가 무의식적으로 인지하는 이미지들을 시각적으로 재구성하는 과정이다. 오랜 시간이 지나도 우리의 기억 속 어딘가에 희미하게 남아 있는 것들, 우리가 잊었다고 생각하지만 여전히 우리를 구성하는 조각들이 존재한다. 어쩌면 지금 우리의 모습도 완전한 우리가 되기 위한 작은 조각 중 하나일지도 모른다. 우리는 무한을 꿈꾸고 바라며, 그것을 갈망하지만, 동시에 무한 속에서 우리가 어떤 존재인지에 대한 질문을 던져야 한다.

This work sets out from the boundary between the visible and the invisible, between what exists and what does not. The human eye is our essential instrument for knowing the world, yet what we can see is limited. We see only where light reaches; deeper layers of existence cannot be observed without instruments. But that we cannot see something does not mean it does not exist.

Heuristic is a process of exploring this boundary between visibility and invisibility. How can we come to understand what the eye cannot see? We believe we began in an unseen, eternal place. If so, where is our starting point — our origin, our passage, and the spaces we have come through?

This work is a process of sensing the invisible intuitively, and of visually reconstructing the images we perceive without knowing. There are things that remain faintly somewhere in our memory after long years — fragments we think we have forgotten, yet which still make us who we are. Perhaps what we are now is also one small fragment on the way to becoming whole. We dream of and long for the infinite; yet within the infinite, we must also ask what kind of beings we are.
